My Hemp Knows What You Did In The Dark! SB3229 HB5784

We are on the ground at the IL State Capitol Building as legislators try to push gut-and-replace Anti-Hemp amendments. HB5784 and SB3229 are the main contenders with SB20 being another bill currently. These bills will kill small hemp farmers and buisiness that make and sell non-intoxicating hemp products with impractical and redundant regulatory fees. These dishonest practices were done during the late night hours, suspending rules to push rushed uneducated legislation that did not consult the Hemp industry in Illinois.

Update

While we gave the fight all we had, it was unfortunately not enough. We were late to discover the 3rd bait-and-switch to SB 3222, and somehow missed the committee to speak on the bill. The bill was read without changes to the anti- hemp portion. It passed 77 to 31 in the house, was concurred in the Senate, and the Governor signed it in the early hours this morning.

I don't believe we will be able to cover the new regulatory fees and liscensing —which are 5 times more— and we will likelybe closing our doors. Thanks for all of the support, it's been an amazing 5 years!
