General Hemp Questions
CBD or cannabidiol is one of the many compounds (phytocannabinoids) found in the cannabis plant. CBD alone is not psychoactive. According to a report from the World Health Organization,(http://www.who.int/medicines/access/controlled-substances/5.2_CBD.pdf) "In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD."
Cannabigerol, or CBG is one of many compounds found within the cannabis plant. I'd argue that CBG is the most important cannabinoid, as all cannabinoids are created within the plant (biosynthesized) from it's acidic form. This is why Cannabigerol is often referred to as the "Mother cannabinoid". Like CBD, CBG is not psychoactive. It is usually found in lower concentrations within the cannabis plant, however selective breeding has allowed for hemp strains with higher concentrations of CBG. CBG dominate strains will often have very low or no detectable THC concentrations in their mature flowers.
Side effects of CBD can include nausea, fatigue and irritability. CBD is processed by the CYP450 enzyme in the liver, and can compete with the uptake of other medications. You should consult your doctor before consumption if you take blood thinners or medication with a grapefruit interaction. High doses of CBD may show abnormalities in liver related blood tests, so you should notify your doctor if you take CBD regularly.
The 2018 farm bill legalized production of Hemp and derived substances and removed them from the controlled substance act on a Federal level. CBD and CBG hemp strains are legal in almost all 50 states, though it's use may have special restrictions. Double check these links to see the laws for your state.

To answer simply, high THCa hemp does not exist. If you see claims of 2014 or 2018 farm bill compliant high THCa hemp, cannabis seeds, or clones - run! These companies are being misleading at YOUR expense.
Extended answer: All of these companies marketing high THCa hemp claim their products are 0.3% THC farm bill compliant. However, they fail to provide decarboxylated THCa levels which are required under Section 2 of the US Federal farm bill stipulating the lab testing of THC levels which allow plants to be classified as hemp. Similarly farm bill compliant cannabis seeds and clones do not exist. They do contain below 0.3% THC, however intentionally selling viable seeds, clones, or other viable parts of hemp plants is prohibited to the public. Only licensed hemp growers, producers and samplers are allowed to handle these products.
Congress just passed (11/12/2025) a THC Hemp ban in the bill to re-open the government. This bill will close the loophole that allowed THCa products to be produced and sold by ignoring the Total THC testing requirements outlined by the USDA. It also adds a 0.4 mg THC cap per package which eliminates the currently 0.3% compliant THC products like beverages and gummies.
The majority of our beloved products will be unaffected by the new ban. All varieties of our CBG flower, end use sublinguals, and topicals have non-detectable levels of THC and will not be affected. The new cap will eliminate all varieties of our CBD flower for direct consumer sale, we will be able to provide the current remaining stock over the next year before the new laws take effect.
The one year date does give some time to potentially make changes to the ban before it's enactment. We along with the IHGA (https://www.illinoishga.com/)will make every effort to petition our legislators for change at our federal and state levels and send updates via our newsletter.
While it is not likely at low and infrequent doses, it is possible to fail a drug test when using a full spectrum hemp product especially if used regularly or at high doses. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is stored in your fat cells and can build up overtime with frequent use. So even though you will not feel psychoactive effects, or be high you could possibly fail a drug test. If you have a vocation that is subject to THC testing the safest option is to use a CBD isolate product that contains 0% THC.
